Alligators, Crocodiles, a moccasin, a 12yr b-day, Santa 🎅 and too many RV mechanics 🙄

Long title but best summary I could come up with. It’s been a bit since our Thanksgiving post but I promised to keep this blog genuine and I haven’t been able to genuinely figure out what’s going on 🙄

Since before our pre-Thanksgiving repair week at LaMesa RV in Port St Lucie we have had some intermittent electrical issues (low battery warning, flashing outlets, slides slowing down and AC not working all together…) but were told everything checked out. After a week of doctor appointments in West Palm, a RV Thanksgiving and a wonderful dry camping trip to the Everglades, we returned to civilization to have our electrical burn out and take out our washer, coffee maker and DVD player in the process. Did I mention we have a built in surge guard and one on the electric pole too??? After delaying our departure to Gulfshores and New Orleans, LaMesa replaced our “transfer switch” citing it had melted down and was the problem. Picked up the RV and drove to Orlando to Clerbrook Golf and RV in Clermont (part of the Thousand Trails system we bought into). Plugged in and still had issues. A week delay getting into Sanford LaMesa and they replaced the reportedly defective transfer switch but everything that was working still didn’t work.

Thankfully we had/have most appliances and AC working from the partial repair but Sanford LaMesa informed us that the inverter was the issue and needs parts to be ordered. Now 3 weeks delays from our departure west we needed to move out of Thousand Trails as our time was up and found a quiet 55 and over community we hope to avoid getting kicked out of this week while we wait for parts.

So New Years will be in Mount Dora, FL and for those paying attention… yes one of us on the DillerTime Bus does qualify is for this nice community 😉 Anyone with knowledge/experience in the inverter/transfer switch welcome to send some advice but Lord willing we will get it repaired and head west out the FL pan-handle for the “big loop” around US on January 6th.

In between repairs, though all Hope has not been lost. We had an excellent trip to the Florida Everglades, despite being in Florida native my first trip, and truly enjoyed seeing some wildlife and Florida landscapes in the Glades. Throw in an 12 yr bday for Robert and we have celebrated our way through the repairs and delays. Even got to see an old missile base. See pics for highlights.

ItsDillerTime is going to take advantage of the springs and other sites while we’re here and bringing the new year in with our best central FL vibes 😎

More on Blue Springs, Thousand Trails, our new-used Grand Cherokee that can flat tow and getting the bus ready for tow and go west in our next post!
