A lunch stop turned into one of the best, most authentic Mexican meals we’ve had in a very long time. If you find yourself hungry in middle South Caroline on I95, stop in Walterboro and head east about a mile from the interstate for a great meal at a great price!

Museums For All

This stop at one of the Museums4all.org was a real gem. The USS New Jersey is an Iowa-Class Battleship in Camden, NJ across the bridge from Philadelphia. I have never seen a more intact and well preserved war vessel. Staggering to see the size and capabilities of this massive ship. Worth a stop and the staff are all very helpful and offer a wealth of education… even when you catch them on lunch break in the mess hall 😊

NY pizza is a staple but when you need a slice in the financial district, right behind the Federal Reserve you will find Friendly Pizza on Nassau St. If Arturo is slinging the pie, you’re going to get it right! He’s been there years and lives the “friendly” in the name. Loved the Buffalo pizza and of course classic pepperoni!

Ocean City, VA off season isn’t on the tourist list but we went anyways and when we needed a late night ice-cream, Dumser’s Dairyland provided! Great old fashion ice-cream shop with multiple locations in Maryland. Staff was great and their soft serve vanilla was as big as the kid’s face!

Kilwins is known for chocolate and ice cream… and for my brother Curtis and wife Amanda who own the Madison, WI shop. They are generous with their time and treats and have become quite good confectioners. We stopped for treats on our way through and you should too if you’re ever on State St down from the Capital! I recommend the Carmel Apple, PB Fudge or Kilwins Tracks!
